Be Mine CPS



As Valentine's Day is fast approaching, I have been trying to make as many cards to send to my family as possible. I didn't send Christmas cards this year so I HAVE to send out Valentine's Day cards.  This Bo Bunny Sheet is perfect for making quick valentines.  When I saw the simple sketch over at CPS I knew these little square images would be perfect.   Please excuse the stitching.  It was great until I smeared the sentiment and had to use Undu to remove my lower panel and start over.  That's when I torn out some of the stitches.  Bummer!  I still think it turned out super cute and it was really quick to make.  I had that leftover piece of MME green dotted scrap looking up at me.  How perfectly it went with the green around the one owl.  I have a goal this year to try and use up as many scraps as possible.  Good goal, huh?  I also decided to add a few buttons up at the top.  It just looked NAKED up there.  This also fits the bill for The Pink Elephant Challenge again!

  I also wanted to share something that I made for the school.  Now, some of you may know that I am "The Popcorn Lady" at school.  My sister thinks that makes me sound old so I should be called the "Popcorn Chick or Babe".  However, I'm not sure that's really appropriate to have ELEMENTARY boys call me" chick" or "babe":)  So what is it that I do? Basically, once a month I go in and pop popcorn ALL DAY to raise money for the school.  I really do enjoy it.  It's a bit more time consuming than just that one day as there is more to the "prep work" than I originally thought.  BUT, it is a great fundraiser.  Our tiny school makes around an average of $140 each month selling 50 cent bags of popcorn.  That's pretty great considering there are only around 450 students in the entire K-5 grade school.  It really is a fun time for me. I'm helping the school in my own small way and the kids LOVE it!  I also figure I have a great future in working at a movie theater should the SAHM thing not work out for me:)  Gotta think towards the future you know.

So why am I telling you all this?  Well, I decided this year to make each month a contest to try and increase sales.  I decided that the class that bought the most popcorn would win the award as CORNIEST CLASS OF THE MONTH.  I had this great idea for an award.  Did YOU know that styrofoam peanuts will disintegrate before your very eyes (after spending much time hot gluing them to an award) when you spray paint them gold?  Yes, it is true!  This award has caused me much angst as I have repeatedly  tried various things to create it.  FINALLY, by chance, I came upon these PAINTABLE styrofoam balls and....

I was so happy to have it done.
And then...
My Daughter....
And My Husband said.....

"Well, they don't REALLY look like popcorn."

(INSERT KNIFE INTO MY HEART)

All I can say is, "THANK YOU " to all of YOU who leave me nice comments because it's a pretty tough crowd where I live.

That family of yours sound familiar - i think your popcorn award is totally wow and you should be really proud of it. Loved reading about what you do for the school - fantastic work.

I LOVE your card, it's just adorable! As for your Corny Award - I think it's an amazing idea!! I think the kids will LOVE it!! Maybe they look a little like popcorn kernels? Not quite popped yet? :)
