LUSH-cious Brown and Orange

Happy Tuesday!   Today we have another challenge for you over at A Crafty Little Place and I can't wait to see all the creations because it's called, "Anything Goes."  This one is easy.  Just make something....anything.

The Design Team was lucky enough to get to use The Lush Collection by MME.  Oh I love this rich, elegant paper.  The base of my card uses a brown that is flocked.  It's so fun to touch.  My crafting time was "notta" with week so I had to make something very quickly.  I didn't get to do a whole lot of stamping at all.  I did want to carry the texture of the card over so, I cut out a heart from some orange burlap I had laying around.

Crafty Food

Welcome to another Crafty Little Place Challenge.  Today the theme is Food.  Your project should include a food item, in honor of the DP that the DT is using called,  DCWV Nana's Kitchen. (Don't you love all those abbreviations????;)

 Most of you may know that cooking isn't one of my favorite things.  I do like to bake though.  I made a few projects for today's challenge and my first is a "Cake Box" using a template you can find HERE. (It's under the freebies section....The Cookie Box) The cake mix inside is a single serving and can be made right inside your microwave in a mug.  My kids and I have done this before.  We have a whole Mason Jar full of the mix and it's perfect for those days when you just NEED a little sweet treat.  Isn't this a great idea to give to someone who lives alone?  It's the perfect size, right?  I love this idea.  The recipe is here for your enjoyment.

 Supplies Used:
Ink: Pink Smooch
Paper: Neenah White, Nana's Kitchen, Tissue
Other:  Scalloped border punch, Brads, Buttons, Nestabilities, Flower, Copic, RV14, RV19, crinkle ribbon, tag, sewing machine, glassine bag, embroidery floss

I made my own flower using a Big Scalloped Nestie and tissue paper.

****Here's my tip:  I colored my crinkle ribbon, trim and flowers on BOTH projects with Copics.  Copics are fabulous for taking anything and making it match by coloring it.  Make sure you take advantage of the HUGE COPIC PREORDER SALE over at DCRU

I made a scalloped circle layer for my main image by using a corner rounder on the next size up circle nestabilites.  I also used my corner round to create the scallop on the tag. 

This idea stemmed from me being sick this week.  I thought this door hanger would be a great way to take something to a sick friend.  You wouldn't even have to bother them.  Just hang it on the doorknob, ring the bell and leave....LOL
Wouldn't this also make a great Halloween treat holder for special friends and neighbors.  You could use this great Halloween Paper by Echo Park.

Very Best Friend

Hey there to my VERY BEST Stamping Friends!!!   I had every intention of posting my last 2 creations for Simply Scrapbooks using the Unity Total Cuteness and WRMK Retro Glam paper last week.  However, I didn't feel so well.  I even missed out on taking food to a lady at our church who is recovering from an illness. Luckily, I could sign up for next month.  Anyways, blogging took a back seat.  It's the last week before my kids start school too.  I'm not sure how much crafting I'll be doing before they go back.  Just a few DT assignments I think.  Anywhooooo!  Here are my last 2 projects:


This one uses up the scrap paper that was left over from my previous cuts.  I added some stickles to that rainbow and LOVE it.  Also, the clouds are stamped on Sahara Sand paper and then I traced using the lightest gray Copic to give it more depth.  I'm sure that isn't visible except IRL.  The strip across the bottom was part of this paper line.  I think I might have to buy more of this stuff:)

Gotta go watch The Dog Whisperer.  My new puppy is doing well except for chasing cars and dealing with other dogs.  Not sure how to deal with the dog issue.  They say dogs should not be treated like a human.   They don't think that way.  We aren't doing that at all, but it cracks me up that she sleeps like this....


Ok, so my daughter added the little toy, but she does sleep on her back like a human.  She is a really good dog.  Very smart.  We have already taught her how to shake (right and left), roll over, sit and stay before coming in the house,  and play fetch.  I'm so happy with her and my kids.  She's been a great addition to the family.  I'm not sure Molly is as sure though.



I imagine her sticking her tongue out like "PLPLPLPLPLPLPLLL"  hee hee:)

Thinking Box and Paper Pierced Thanks


Another Purpl-ish Day????  Kinda.  I took the same papers by We R Memory Keepers ( my bad...I said Memory Makers yesterday....oops) and made several projects using just that one line.  I tried to pull a more pinkish purple tone with my creations today.  This is just a simple box.  I think it is an 8X12 piece that was scored at 2" and 6"  on the shorter 8" side and then scored at 5" and 7" on the 12" side.  Maybe I should come up with a template and share.  I'll do that later.  It's VERY simple, but hard to explain.

I created the flower by pulling the thread on one end of the saddle stitched ribbon to gather it and form a spiral. Glue this to a scrap of circle punch paper and top with a brad, button, pearl, whatever.  My "leaves" are just grosgrain that was tied into a knot.  This is for the Free For All Challenge to use Buttons and ribbon differently.  Ok...no button, but my ribbons are used VERY differently.

I used my Copics to color in the heat embossed frame.  Did you know that you can color over any Copic with a very light gray to tone it down or give the impression of a more vintage color???  I colored over my YG25 and RV 19( I think) with a W-2.  That is a light shade of warm gray and it took the harshness of the colors down a bit.  Just a tip for you:)




Here's another project using the backside of that same WRMK paper, Retro Glam.  I used some Colorbox Merlot ink and Sahara sand for the flowers.  I colored my prima flower that was HOT pink with Copics to match:D  I love Copics.  Don't forget the Copic Sale at DCRU that starts TOMORROW!  Cheap!

 I added some twill and rhinestone for bling.  My boo boo is covered by that "thanks" sentiment.  I hate when I add a sentiment as the final step and it smears a big blob of ink.  So stamp, punch out and cover it up...Yah!

Guess WHOOO????

It's Me!  Good Morning!  Did you know that Wednesday is my favorite day of the week?  I don't know why.  I think it's because it's typically a "chill" day.  We don't usually have too much going on on Wednesdays.  I'm a homebody and like to just hang out and doing nothing....on Wednesday.  So HAPPY Wednesday!  It just so happens that we have NO FOOTBALL on Wednesdays too!  That just adds to the appeal.

I've got a few cards to share today.  Now brace yourselves because this week is all about PURPLE!  Eek!  I know.  I typically HATE purple.  BUT, I had this great paper by We R Memory Makers that I fell in love with.  It's called, Retro Glam.  When paired with green, yellow and a dark gray, this pinkish purple isn't really so bad.  I used this for my 5 projects over at Simply Scrapbooks.  So BRING ON THE PURPLE....dum, dum, dummmmmmm.....


Isn't this CUTE?  Well, the set is by Unity and it's called, Total Cuteness.  Now you have to make something cute with that kind of title.

A Crafty Little Place Color Challenge



Good Morning!  It's Tuesday and time for A Crafty Little Place Challenge.  This week we have a color challenge for you using these colors:


The DT got to use some really fun papers by Petal Pushers.  I got lucky enough to get the dotted papers...YEAH!  Love dots!
I decided to make my daughter a little gift box in honor of school starting very soon.  I was able to use one of  the newest releases from Claudia and Co ...School Time Lucy.  I made a matching bookmark to go inside this box that I plan to fill with some goodies for a girl starting Middle School.  



I decided to cut out the little pile of books separately and add them to the bookmark along with some punched out dots from my scraps of paper.  The letters are cut out from the Chicken Noodle Sizzix die and colored with my Copics.  I also colored that flower with Copics to match, as well as, the cream colored May Arts Ribbon.  See all the fun things you can do with Copics? You can find the directions for this box HERE.  I altered mine by making  a different handle.

It's All About the Bag!

I've got a very easy project to share with you today.  You know how much I love recycling, right?  Well, this elegant bag started out as a Business Reply Envelope.  For some reason, the University of Phoenix thinks that I was in the Armed Forces and wants me to apply.  HA!  They obviously don't know what a wimp I am.  I could never have the courage or drive to be in the Armed Forces.  So, I decided to use the Reply Envelope to make a Bagalope.  Have you ever made one of these?  I think these are the coolest, easiest , most incredible thing.  Really!  Look what an elegant thing you can make from an envelope....




















These are great little gift bags.  Just fill with whatever your heart desires.  I've used them to give chocolate, candies, friendship tea.  Great treat bags for kid's classrooms.  The larger the envelope, the bigger the bag.  Here's my tip on these....Go to your local pharmacy or anyplace that sells cards and ask them if they have extra, leftover envelopes.  Usually they will have a bunch from cards that didn't sell.  They are typically larger envelopes and you can usually get them for FREE!  Yes!  My favorite "F" word;).

So how do you make these fabulous things?????

Here's a tutorial I made up for you.  I've never done it like this before so let me know if it doesn't work.


I think that if you click on the picture it will enlarge and then you can select to print it.  Now, you may have to select ( Shrink to Fit) on your printer because I made a little Boo Boo.  I was so excited to use my new PhotoShop for this and merged and locked all the layers and then realized I had some typos and the margins went over the edge for printing.  Hey, I'm a novice and not very bright.  You should still be able to figure it out.  Good luck!  Let me know if there is a problem and I will do a normal tutorial on my blog instead.

BTW, this was made using that Stamper's Anonymous set called, Shabby French.  I made it as my last project for Simply Scrapbooks.  The topper is made using a Spellbinders Label die.  Just cut it out and folded it over the top.  I punched holes on the end to thread my crinkle ribbon through to close it.  The entire back of the topper is adhered to the bag.

Sweet Summertime With The Girls AND Boys

Good Morning!  It's Tuesday!  That means it's time for another challenge over at A Crafty Little Place.  It's a recipe challenge and the recipe is only to include a TAG on your card.  Easy stuff!  I really hope you can all try and play along. 

The Design Team was asked to create something using these really fun papers by Echo Park called, " Sweet Summertime."  These happen to be the papers used in the July Kit also.  I have linked you to the 6x6 Sampler pack which is perfect for card makers.  However, you can also get the full 12 x 12 sheets HERE .

What You Do Today...


Good Morning!  I have a card today for a few challenges.  This uses that great Stampers Anonymous set, Shabby French.  I used the colors from The Playdate Cafe Challenge this week.  I had to substitute Cream for White though.  White was too harsh.  I also based this off Mercy's Tuesday Sketch.

My post will have to be short and sweet today.  I've been a bit preoccupied with some things here lately.

Mainly, this.........


This is Harley.  She is the newest addition to our family.  We were not planning on getting a new dog, let alone, a puppy.  Sometimes life presents you with things and you have to grab them up.  Harley is a pure bred Australian Shepard.  Our dog Molly is getting very old and our hope is that they will be good for each other.  Australian Shepards have strong personalities.  I have been working very hard to make sure she knows who is boss.  They are great family dogs, but require a LOT of attention.  I've been studying up and trying to train her.  She is very smart and does really well.  My biggest problem right now is getting her socialized with other dogs.  She is naturally prone to being the more aggressive dog.  We are working on that.  Heading to the library today for some Cesar books or something of the like.  Wish me luck!

Tote- ally Haute!

I've got a really late post today.I've been working really hard the last few days  on a project for Creations by AR.  I was so thrilled to have Adela contact me over the summer to be on her design team.  You all know how much I love to create 3D items.  Well, Creations by AR is a fabulous online source for templates.  She also has several digi stamps and a few new things in the works.  I'm really excited to be a part this fabulous team of Designers. You can see the great company I'm keeping on my sidebar.  Also, make sure you head over and check out all the current templates you can purchase, as well as, a few FREE templates that you can try on Adela's fabulous blog.




The template I've used today is the Haute Tote template.  I wanted to be able to enter this into a few challenges.  I think this tote is a perfect little bag to hold items for a wedding gift.  There is a pocket included on the inside that could hold a gift card.  I always try to journal when I go on vacation about things that happened along the way.  Lightbulb!  Why not include a little journal in here for the honeymooners to jot down memories of their trip?  I think a few other items that might be fun are gum, chapstick. trial sized sunscreen.  It's like a little package of things for the flight or the road.  Just make sure you give it to them before they actually leave:)  Do you guys have any other ideas?

Greetings!


Good Morning!  Today is my first challenge as a New Design Team Member for A Crafty Little Place.  The challenge today is a sketch.  True to form, mine is a bit altered.  I tend to do that with sketches.  Now, I have to tell you this funny story.  Gwen asked all of the new DT members a series of questions.  One of those was, "What colors do you love and what colors do you despise?"  I really am not a fan of purple.  So what color is included in my first challenge paper....Purple!  I think it's a conspiracy.  Just Kidding!  These girls are the most amazing people.  They are so kind and supportive so I know it was just my luck.  I don't even have any "real" purple Copics to color with.  So I did my best.  It's not my favorite card.  I promise that my next challenge card will be better.
