Shabby CAS

A really simple CAS card for the CAS challenge at Splitcoast this week.  The challenge is to make a CAS card that is Shabby Chic.  The Technique Challenge on Splitcoast is to "frame" an image or sentiment...anything really on your card.  I used one of the Label Nesties for that.  I am in love with this October Afternoon paper.  The stamp set coordinates with this paper and  is from OA as well.
I used the same set on my card the other day.  I just did some very basic, sloppy paper pleating and added a ribbon and REALLY old lace trim that I had in my stash.  The base of the card is embossed and then distressed .  That's it!   I really enjoy doing a CAS card now.  Makes life simple.  Have a great weekend.  See you back here tomorrow for a Sunday Sketch:)

BIG AND BOLD

I can't believe it's already Friday.  This time last week I was sitting on the beach watching the waves come crashing in as my kid's ran from that freezing ocean water. Brrr was it cold.  I remember as a kid not caring a bit.  Not now.  I stuck one toe in and said, "Whoa!  I'm heading back to my towel and drink:)

I wanted to thank everyone for the warm comments on my mood yesterday.  I am feeling better today and realize that my blog is supposed to be a happy place.  I reread my post yesterday and thought..."What a crab.  Who wants to read that?"  So today I have a cheery card to share instead of "Woe is me" stuff.


This just screams fun doesn't it?  Today is my momma's birthday.  Happy Birthday Mom!  Love you!  This is not for her though.  I made this for the challenge over at Studio 313 Hot Spot. 

The challenge this week focuses on using psychedelic prints in the home.  That's what appears to be hot in home furnishings at the moment.  So how can you translate that to your cards?  Think Bold, Bright colors.  I used the digital paper by Shawne called, Carnival Dots and Spots and Carnival Sloppy Stripe.  I created my pinwheels by printing on each side of my presentation paper.  Instant double sided DP!  Pinwheels are so easy to make.  Simply cut a square of double sided paper.  (mine are 2 3/4" and 3 1/2")  Cut up from each corner into the middle with scissors ( but not all the way or you will cut it apart).  Take one corner and fold it up to meet the center.  I then put a bit of glue to hold it.  Do this on all four corners and then pierce a hole in the center.  Attach with a brad.  You can attach this to a stick if you want it to move.  Mine are stationary.  If you need a picture as reference check THIS out.

CCEE Stampers- nursery rhymes....The Wheels on the Bus Go Round and Round. Ok, this may not be a nursery rhyme, but it's a song I sang at nursery school.  My card is the Pinwheels on the Card Go Round and Round....Oh Wait...no they don't.  Hmmmm....I may be stretching here.  It's still fun.  I'm trying to be positive:D  Indulge me.

This is the first card I made and wasn't really thrilled with it.  What I have come to realize is that many times when I post a card I don't care for many others do like it.  Then cards I really like won't get as many comments.  The lesson ( other than the fact that my taste apparently STINKS) is that we all have different views and this is a place of sharing...good and bad.  Having said that.  Tomorrow I will have another post and I think I may share some of the struggles I have had this week.  You never know how it may affect someone else.  I promise it won't be so crabby though.  Oh, I almost forgot...the card!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

I have a bit of green to share with you this morning.  I am having somewhat of a hard time getting back into my stamping here.  So I figured a CAS card is always a good place to start.  I made this for Splitcoasts CAS 58 challenge this week.  It also falls into the Crazy 4 Challenges category since I made this for my husband's boss.  The challenge is masculine cards.  I also used the CPS sketch 158 this week.  Slowly, but surely I will get those creative juices flowing again.

It's good to be home and my dad is doing great.  They are 99% sure that the cancer was contained and removed. Thank you so much for all your kind thoughts, words and prayers.  It means sooo much.

 I managed to come home early since he was doing so well.  His wife did not deal well with me being there.  I am hoping that she was easier to deal with after I left.  What a tough disease.... that Alzheimer's .  She was just rotten, but I have to try and remember that it isn't her fault.  That is easier to do after I have left. 

So, I am happy to be home with my family and settling back into the fun we have going on here.  I hope to have another card for you tomorrow.  However, we have family coming in today.  We are a "pit stop" on their way to Tennessee. I will be busy cleaning and (ugh) cooking today while we await their arrival.

FOREVER On The Hips



This is going to be so quick!  Today is my last day to finish up all the teacher gifts and get all my mandatory crafting done.  Of course I took time out this am to make a card the the CAS challenge on Splitcoast.  The challenge was to use curves.  My card is curvy and cupcakes will GIVE you curves.  I used this cute set by Hero Arts that I got from ABC Toys and Crafts.  All their stamps are 25% OFF  right now.  Also, if you order over $50 TOMORROW you can get free shipping.  Just use the code FREESHIP.  Plus they really do have toys.  So you could get the kiddos something and justify the splurge for yourself...hee hee.  See how I work things?

The inside says," A moment on the lips, FOREVER on the hips."  Then it says, "I'm ok with that!  How about you?"

This was just something I had to make to get out the Christmas crafting rut.  I love cake and the frosting is my favorite part.  What to know a dirty secret about me?........
I keep a can of frosting in my pantry and at certain times will just dig in and eat right out of it.  It's kind of like my tub of Ben and Jerry's:)

Gotta go!  It's the BUSIEST time of the year.

Missing



A few weeks ago the CAS challenge on Splitcoast was to make a card using a sketch.  This is one that I made and sent to my dad.  I had made everyone in my family a card except him so I thought I better not exclude him. This is a really quick card and so is this post.  I will have a few posts over the next few weeks while I am on vacation.  Enjoy!

Twinkle, Twinkle Big, Bright, Beautiful Star!




I just have a very quick post today.  We only have 2 more days til our vacation and I have sooo much to do.  I read a blog by Shawne, who is an AMAZING artist for Clear Dollar Stamps.  This is another stamp company that I truly want to try out.  However, I have so many wants and so few monies.  Isn't that the way it goes.  Anyways, they have started a new Challenge and she invited me to participate.  The challenge is to use 5 of anything on your card.  Mine has 5 pearls, 5 Tiny Tinkles and it did have 5 layers, but I had to remove one cause I messed up....SHOCKER!  This is also for the CAS challenge on Splitcoast which is to use white and ONE other color.  I was so excited to get to play with the Verve Stamp set I just won from the last release party.  It's so pretty!  Alright, now go check out the challenges and play along!
