The Trials and Tribulations of Being A Mom

There are days when being a mom is the greatest thing in the world.

1.  Hugs and Kisses
2.  My son telling me," You're the best mom I've ever had:)"
3.  My daughter wanting to take care of me when I'm sick
4. My kids dancing, laughing, playing with me.
5.  My daughter calling me crazy.  Which translates to fun and cool.
6. Kid Giggles...they are the best.

You get the idea..... Kids are great and being a Mom is the best....

And then there are days....
1.Cleaning toothpaste out of the sink
2. Cleaning the bathroom in general...Why can't boys hit that BIG hole???
3. Picking dirty clothes up off the floor for the umpteenth time.

4.Telling and retelling them to feed the dog/clean their room/ take care of their coat, backpack/shoes.

You understand......

And then....

Every once in a while...

You will have the "Mother" of all days......

 
  

This is not a good way to start the day.  It all started with this:

 

My son made himself some hot cocoa the night before.  He made a complete mess as he was doing so.  Spilled the powder all over and sloshed a BIT on the counter.  Yes, this is part of learning to do things yourself.  I'm aware.  However, he put the cup on the table and it sat there all night forming a crust that would cause it to stick to the table.  It was sooo stuck I had to add hot water repeatedly to try  and dissolve this crust.  As I gently, yes gently, tried to twist the cup off....it SUDDENLY released and the hot cocoa inside flew out and across my entire kitchen floor.  UGH!!!!!!  It even soaked the left side of my body.
Cocoa MOVES, baby! ( Said in my best George (Seinfeld) voice)

There are days when I just should get back in bed.
This was not a good start to my day.
Even though it started out rough it ended up being a great day.

I got into a Copic Certification class!  I'm so excited!

It ended with my son and I playing some basketball in the basement and then glittering up some hearts together for his Valentine's.

The JOYS and Tribulations of being a Mom.  They are worth it:)

Oh dear Nikki! I had to laugh though....they don't change as they get older, I could see my boyfriend doing something like this!!!!!

LOL.. I am sorry to laugh, but your "Mother Plight" brought back some wonderful?? memories. I def. understand about guys not being able to "hit the big hole". When my son was little and had to get up at night he didn't want to turn on the light, so completely missed. One night I got him out of bed, gave him a toothbrush and had him clean the floor. Never had a problem again. Cruel... not at all. His wife thanks me to this day. LOL

Nikki: Jim was just as bad when I met him. All his cereal bowls and glasses waited patiently for a week or two for me to arrive and do dishes (he even had a dishwasher)But there they sat on the counter welding themselves to it. I always had to take a soft hammer like object and chip his dishes off the counter to be washed. So what could I do but marry him (just to be able to keep up with the dishes) And now he always grabs the towel and dries for me (without being asked) I guess everything is more fun with 2. Tell Dalty Aunt Linda thinks he will make a chef someday.... Keep the family antidotes coming...Love you all Aunt Linda

Ha ha....being the mother of a boy, I certainly understand! I had to laugh as I read and saw that it was cocoa - it looks like blood! Truly looks like a crime scene! lol... Funny post today - made me smile, and brought back memories! For us, it was a quart of OJ that was dropped in the kitchen and flew all the way up to the ceiling, upper cabinets, etc...ugh!

Oh honey!! There's just no way to not laugh out loud - bless your heart - at least you kept a good attitude. My babies are 37 and 39 now - what I wouldn't give to have spilt chocolate just one more time.
